Over the past few days, we have been following this attempt originated from sources antagonistic to the family of Olympiacos, to noise about the future of our club’s Basketball Team. Media linked to Mr Melissanidis (Live Sport) and Mr. Savvidis (SDNA) have been reporting on troubles that Olympiacos BC faces and a potential involvement of Socrates Kokkalis with our Club’s Basketball Team, although such an issue has never been raised by OLYMPIACOS BC themselves. Evidently, these reports do not serve the best interests of the Legend’s family, so we would like to make clear the following:
OLYMPIACOS FC has absolute trust to the Aggellopouloi brothers, who –in dire times both financially and sporting-wise- were there to take themselves on the task of running an entire basketball team, paid off all the team’s debts, invested millions of euros and led our team to stunning success. The Aggellopouloi brothers enjoy our full support in their effort to bring our team back to the top and they are the only ones to decide on the future of OLYMPIACOS BC.
In case the Aggellopouloi brothers decide to step down and Mr Kokkalis or any other third party, of a certain gravity and power, wishes to take on and invest in OLYMPIACOS BC, they will also have our full support, as long as their effort is governed by the will to secure long-term progress of the Team, and not to foster business or political opportunism, and guarantees that OLYMPIACOS BC will not be left again to sink into debt as it happened in the past just before Mr Aggellopouloi took over.
In any case, the fans of OLYMPIACOS may rest assured. No matter what happens, Mr Marinakis will always be here for OLYMPIACOS and, if ever needed, he will himself ensure that our Team will play a leading role both domestically and in Europe, as it is the case with our football team and all non-professional Teams of OLYMPIACOS CLUB OF FANS OF PIRAEUS, which do receive his undivided backing.
Above all, the fans of OLYMPIACOS have to stay united and we together must not allow anyone to distract or divide us.
