The political persecution of the President of Olympiacos FC and the Club’s Administration was confirmed today following a months-long process, each stage of which stands as a disgrace to the democratic values of a “so-called” European country.
The case concerns two misdemeanor charges that are not based on a single (!) piece of concrete evidence—no confession, no recorded dialogue, nothing tangible or factual!
These charges are founded on leaps of “absurd reasoning” and outright fabrications by those who carried out the orders of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis relying on conspiracy theories and inconceivable assumptions. The accusations? that we allegedly distributed a few dozen invitations to fans (something that all clubs do, and on a much larger scale). We also extend invitations to politicians, judges, and police officers! Yet there is no evidence whatsoever that any recipient of such invitations engaged in any illegal activity.
We are also being prosecuted for issuing a statement that allegedly… incited the public after the match against Volos— despite the fact that, at the time of its release, the judiciary did not consider it to pose any criminal concerns. It was only weaponized months later!
They went so far as to accuse our administration simply for maintaining communication with our supporters, as if any club’s leadership would not engage with its fans. One of the “evidence” points cited was the meeting with our supporters on February 8th at the Karaiskakis Stadium —at the Gate 7 memorial, no less!! Gate 7, where 21 of our people lost their lives and whose members number in the tens of thousands, was treated as a “criminal organization” even before the investigation had concluded.
Unprecedented procedures followed, including an official report by the Hellenic Police (ELAS) which—without any actual evidence—included vague statements such as: “it cannot be ruled out that the Olympiacos FC administration is involved.” Also involved are “renowned” police officers, such as “Vaggelitsa of the EYP (National Intelligence Service)” from the… Wiretapping Scandal, or Christologlou, head of YAVAX – . This is the same officer who somehow lost track of hundreds of Croatian Nazis traveling 1,200 kilometers from Zagreb to Athens to murder AEK fan Michalis Katsouris. He never managed to identify those who transported and sheltered the Croatians. Instead of facing accountability for this failure, the state hastily closed the case on his role.
This is the same officer who, according to Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, “lost track” of a group of organized Panathinaikos fans who threw Molotov cocktails to sabotage the massive Tempi protest—yet he now obsessively scrutinizes solely Olympiacos supporters. These individuals played central roles in this manipulated investigation from day one. And ultimately, without any substantial evidence, we are facing a prosecution issued on demand.
Olympiacos FC, as well as the administration of the Olympiacos S.F.P., have absolutely no connection to the allegations made against them—something well known to everyone. The same applies to Olympiacos BC, which, for reasons that remain unclear, has not been included in the indictment.
Everyone also knows that the administration of the Olympiacos S.F.P. sought to postpone the match in question, as it coincided with the tragic anniversary of the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos—a date that always carries heightened tensions. Despite being fully aware of this, authorities proceeded while conveniently ensuring that certain media outlets—infamously favored by the Mitsotakis government and deeply intertwined with state mechanisms—were “informed” in advance and allowed to shape public perception of the case.
Once this undemocratic ordeal concludes, not a single Greek citizen will remain unaware of every detail of this case and of all the central figures (regardless of their position) who participated in this unthinkable conspiracy against Olympiacos, our President, our administration, and our people.
We will pursue all necessary legal action, both in Greece and at the European level, against everyone who has demonstrated such open hostility toward Olympiacos and who believes our club can be exploited for their political agendas.
The panicked Prime Minister and his government—who orchestrated and executed this dark scheme—as well as the business and media interests that aligned with them to present a fabricated and disgraceful indictment as if it were a legitimate case, have now been exposed to every Olympiacos fan and every thinking Greek citizen.
From today, the Olympiacos family begins its fight to bring the truth to light.
Those who masterminded this sinister affair should have known what Olympiacos truly stands for – before choosing to stand exposed—dwarfed and defenseless—before the millions who support our club!
