Olympiacos’ Youngsters were unable to secure back-to-back semifinal appearances in the UEFA Youth League and continue their effort to defend their European champion title. Despite battling until the end of the match, the “red-and-whites” were edged out by Salzburg with a 1-0 loss, marking the end of their journey in the competition.
However, they once again proved that Olympiacos remains firmly among Europe’s elite, even at the academy level. It is also a significant achievement that the Youth Team once again ranked among the top eight teams in Europe. Additionally, it is worth noting that from last season until now, Olympiacos’ Youngsters remained unbeaten in 15 consecutive matches –a streak that saw them crowned UEFA Youth League champions last year– before finally tasting defeat.
The decisive goal was scored in the 11th minute by Aguilar with a strike from outside the box.
