Olympiacos secured a 3-0 win away at Lamia, making it three wins out of three in the league. The coach of the “Red-and-whites,” José Luis Mendilibar, expressed his satisfaction with the performance and the final result during the post-match press conference.
Here is the full press conference of the Basque coach:
“It was a difficult and tough game against a good opponent. Lamia made things quite hard for us. They even had a good chance to score, but I believe the goal we scored just before half time made things much easier for us and opened the way. In the second half, we had total control, we were better, we scored the remaining goals and finished the game”.
After the game, the fans chanted your name and that of Gelson Martins. Does this show faith in the team’s plan?
First and foremost, we want to thank our fans who support us in every game. We saw many fans come to the stadium in Volos, as well as now in Lamia, and many traveled with us to see us play. They stand by us whether we play well or poorly, and they are always good to us, always by our side, and we thank them for that. Surely, the fans see something they like. Now, they see the efforts of Gelson Martins, who had a good preseason, was effective, and continues to be, which is why the fans like him. After last season, which was tough for him due to injuries, now they are happy for this player because what they see from him is impressive”.
