The coach of Olympiacos expressed his satisfaction with the friendlies in Italy against Ternana and Roma, as he stated after the 1-1 draw with Roma:
“In Italy, we played two friendlies that were completely different from each other. Against Ternana, it was very hot, which affected us at the beginning. We played well in the second half, while we were not good in the first half. Against Roma, we were good from the start, and this allows us time to improve certain aspects before the official matches begin”.
When asked about the participation of Olympiacos’ youth players, he emphasized: “It doesn’t matter if they are young or older and how many years they have been with the team. They are players of a big club, and the fact that they have won the UEFA Youth League is significant. What we need to do is give them the opportunity to meet Olympiacos’ demands”.
The Basque coach continued: “We performed well against Roma, but the most important thing is to prepare the players regarding the mentality we are looking for and that they should have. We still have 15 days to prepare for the official matches. What matters most is the team’s mentality, and against a good team like Roma, we showed that we have a winning mentality”.
