Once again, Olympiacos stood by the Metropolis of Piraeus, attending an event that took place on Thursday (13/6) at the Open Veakeio Theater in Piraeus. Specifically, the General Director and Vice President of Olympiacos FC, Kostas Karapapas, along with the President and CEO of the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium, Vasilis Vassiliadis, attended the closing ceremony for the educational activities of the Metropolis of Piraeus.
During the event, hundreds of “red-and-white” gifts, donated by Olympiacos FC, were distributed to the school children. The club continued its social outreach, once again supporting and contributing to the great work of the Metropolis of Piraeus.
At the Veakeio Theater, hundreds of young students from the Metropolis’ schools organized a delightful event for their parents and guests, who were in attendance. A video showcasing Olympiacos’ great success in winning the UEFA Europa Conference League was also presented. During the video, the children sang the Olympiacos anthem and applauded as the team lifted the European trophy.
At the same time, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus presented commemorative gifts to Mr. Kostas Karapapas and Mr. Vasilis Vassiliadis, honoring the President of Olympiacos FC, Evangelos Marinakis.
In his statement, the Metropolitan emphasized: “What I have to say is that here is Piraeus, and here the heart of Olympiacos will always beat; a club that embodies the spirit of fair play. The President is the great benefactor of the Metropolis’ educational institutions; he established, equipped, and created the high school of the institution. We feel deep gratitude and love for the contributions of the people of Olympiacos to our city, our youth, our sports, and our culture. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their support in every good work and wish them to always have strength and God’s blessing in their lives”.
Kostas Karapapas, speaking to the audience at Veakeio, said: “I would like to say that this year started with difficulties, adversity, and challenges for us, but it ended magically, in an extraordinary way, making us all proud. I want to talk about what happened in between, when difficulties, problems, and bad results arose. We did not give up; we continued with strength and faith and reached this triumph; as a family, together with all the residents of Piraeus, all Greeks, and always with the Church of Piraeus by our side. This is also how life is; it may be riddled with difficulties, but with our heads held high, we always fight the good fight, and in the end, we will be winners. This is how we know how to act; this is how we continue. We thank our Metropolitan because a large part of this strength and faith comes from him, through his love”.
Vasilis Vassiliadis stated: “Evangelos Marinakis and the people of Olympiacos will always stand by the Bishop and the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus to continue its work and reach even greater heights. Be well, Bishop, stay healthy, strong, and joyful to continue offering to the society of Piraeus”.
