Olympiacos made history, becoming the first Greek team to win a European trophy! The Legend lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy in Nea Filadelfia after a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina in the final of the competition.
From the final whistle, the “red-and-white” celebrations began at the Nea Filadelfia stadium and continued through the streets of Athens to Piraeus, culminating at the city’s Municipal Theater. There, the team arrived and celebrated the UEFA Europa Conference League triumph with thousands of fans.
At the Municipal Theater, the team was greeted by Olympiacos’ leader, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, who welcomed the champions and addressed the crowd: “Today, a crazy dream has become a reality. For our Olympiacos, for our Piraeus, for our Greece. I want our numerous supporters, our players, our great coach, and all of you who gave us the strength to keep dreaming and make our dreams come true to especially enjoy this night.
Long live the Legend, long live Piraeus, long live Greece, may you all be well.” Following this, Olympiacos’ captain, Kostas Fortounis, took the stage and said: “We achieved a feat. Thank you all. I want you to love this team with all your heart”.
Shortly after, along with his teammates and the president of the Legend, they lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy.
Olympiacos’ coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar, added: “This is the first, but we hope it won’t be the last. It’s ours, it’s for all Greeks”.
