Once again, Olympiacos FC and its President, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, stand by the residents of Piraeus and our fellow human beings in real need. As happens every year, and in anticipation of the Easter holidays, a delegation from Olympiacos was present at the Church of Saint Nicholas in the center of Piraeus, on the morning of Friday (26/04).
There, where the President and CEO of the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium, Mr. Vasilis Vassiliadis, along with the young players who won the UEFA Youth League, Charalambos Kostoulas, Isidoros Koutsidis, and the goalkeeper of the first team and Olympiacos U23, Thanasis Papadoumis, visited the Church of Saint Nicholas and distributed thousands of meals to the residents of Piraeus. Mr. Vassiliadis also delivered financial checks to support the work of the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus and the salaries of its deacons.
This initiative is led by the President of Olympiacos FC, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, who has consistently supported the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus and its contribution to society.
Speaking to the faithful and later in his statements, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus and Faliro expressed his gratitude to Mr. Evangelos Marinakis for his valuable contribution and support, and highlighted:
“I would like to express my gratitude because once again, the beloved President of Olympiacos FC, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, is with us. For 100 years, Olympiacos has proclaimed the spirit of fair play. The most tangible, earthly proof of this is the European Youth Championship, which means that these children came through the academies of Olympiacos, were guided from a young age, and developed into genuine and dynamic personalities, achieving this great feat of surpassing great football nations and winning the European Championship. It is the strongest proof of the remarkable work being done at Olympiacos FC. I would like to wish all the fans of the team to have the light of the Resurrection in their lives, which is reflected in love for every person, kindness, morality, and drive, all of which make up our philosophy and faith”.
The President and CEO of the “G. Karaiskakis” Stadium, Mr. Vasilis Vassiliadis, said: “Olympiacos is blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ, and its President, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, our leader, is blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ to continue to support the Church of Piraeus. Whether by building the Metropolitan Mansion in Piraeus, the High School in the schools of Agia Sofia, the camps, or supporting every Christmas and Easter here, or contributing to the concert for the financial support of our Metropolis. Thus, Olympiacos, a team with many victories, and I call them the “winningest” team, because they are the only team that won the European Youth Championship this year. Additionally, the senior football team is in the semifinals of the UEFA Conference League. We are here with the Bishop’s blessings, distributing parcels to those in need. Evangelos Marinakis will continue to be present at these events of love and humanity, generously opening his pocket to offer his help”.
The players of Olympiacos at Saint Nicholas spoke about the great contribution of Mr. Evangelos Marinakis. Initially, Thanasis Papadoumis said: “These actions are certainly important; they may even be more significant than a victory or qualification. These actions offer us joy, in helping people who have real problems, and as long as we are well, as long as Olympiacos and our President are well, we will help those in need”.
Isidoros Koutsidis commented: “It is certainly important for the team to provide food to people during these days. We see that Olympiacos and Mr. Evangelos Marinakis always offer their help, and this continues.” Charalambos Kostoulas added: “As my teammates said, this is the most important thing, to help people, as the team and Mr. Evangelos Marinakis have been doing for so many years”.
