Olympiacos wound up a draw in Peristeri against Atromitos for the championship and the coach of the Piraeus team, Carlos Carvalhal, drew attention to the fact that despite the many opportunities, the goal did not get scored.
In detail what the Portuguese coach of the “red-and-whites” said at the press conference after the match:
Do you think that there were some phases that Olympiacos should complain about? Also, a comment on the fact that you made one substitution.
In general, I would not like to comment on the arbitration’s decisions, but the referee kept injury time only while the opponent’s goalkeeper had the ball – he did not include the remaining minutes he should have. Regarding the match, despite the fact that we did not score, I think that the team has been constantly improving in the last three games, but we did not score and this is what spoils the image. However, our appearance was better than in previous games. It was a match where we were faced with many absences. We were aware of Fortounis’ absence due to punishment, but we had last-minute absences, such as Solbakken, Biel, El-Arabi, Camara, but we also had players on the pitch, such as Rodinei, Podence, El Kaabi, Masouras, who gave their everything and made a great appearance and did not allow Atromitos to threaten us. We were dominant during the match, creating continuous offence and with Jovetić’s entry, the team was complete and powerful in their game.
Olympiacos has scored one goal in the last two matches. Do you think that the team should correct their final effort or be strengthened by transfers?
You are right, despite the fact that we have created more than ten opportunities in our last games, we have only scored one goal. This is something we need to work on and be demanding towards our footballers, and to have expectations from the whole team, not just our strikers. Regarding the transfers, the January market is still a long time away. We will definitely have a meeting to see what the team will be needing.
