The coach of Olympiacos, Diego Martínez, spoke at the press conference after the end of the match against Freiburg in Germany.
In detail, the press conference of the Spanish coach.
Before the game, you said that Olympiacos is more mature and more cautious in relation to the first game. What happened that led to the image we saw?
Indeed, nothing worked out and, as always, on both good and difficult nights, I want to be the one who comes forward and takes responsibility. In the first half, the image we are used to was not there and the opponent was better. We didn’t do anything right and none of what we had planned on. It was a bad night and I apologise to our fans because we know that this was a really tough evening.
What do you think needs to change to improve the team’s image?
Improving everything in relation to this game. We conceded two goals within a few minutes and our reaction was not good at all, and we made many mistakes that we could have avoided. We need to improve everything.
If you could turn back the clock and play the game again, would you have changed anything or was it such a bad night for everyone that you couldn’t have done much?
Anything I tell you would seem like an excuse and I don’t want that. We started badly and conceded two quick goals, the team was affected psychologically and the follow-up was difficult. We need to calmly analyse everything that has happened, but I don’t want to say anything now that might seem like an excuse.
