A Legendary victory, 2–1 against West Ham at Karaiskakis

Olympiacos beat West Ham in the 3rd matchday of the UEFA Europa League group stage.

An important victory for the continuation of their group, Olympiacos took over West Ham at “G. Karaiskakis.” The “red-and-whites” welcomed UEFA Conference League holder, West Ham, and won 2–1 for the 3rd matchday of the UEFA Europa League.

Olympiacos went strong from the start of the game and showcased their intentions early on. In the 9’, Alexandropoulos made the shot through the territory with the goalkeeper steadily blocking. But in their next good moment, Olympiacos scored the 1–0 during the match. Specifically, in the 33’ Fortounis, following an amazing individual action, found the empty space and he sent the ball into the net with a nice shot outside the box.

At half injury time, and specifically on the 45+1’, Rodinei crossed from the right with his left foot, blocking the defender from moving, thus resulting in the ball hitting the net for the 2–0 of the Legend.

In the 47’ of the second half, Ward-Prowse threatened with a direct free kick, but the ball went out, while in the 60’ Porozo took the header after a foul by Fortounis and the goalkeeper beat the ball. Alexandropoulos threatened in the 71’ with a long shot which was barely out, while eight minutes later, in the 79’, Alexandropoulos entered the area, following an individual action, made his way from the left, and threw the goalkeeper into a corner.

In the 80’, Fortounis “filled in” the opponent’s area with a corner kick, Porozo took the header, and the ball went just outside the nets. Seven minutes later, in the 87’, Paquetá made the shot from the height of the large territory and reduced to 2–1. Olympiacos had another good moment, in the first minute of injury time, when Fortounis shot outside the territory and the ball was barely out.
