Olympiacos FC announces signing of Argentinian defender Nicolás Freire, born Feb 18th, 1994 in Santa Lucia, San Juan.
He took his first steps in football in his home country’s club of CAI, followed by Argentinos Juniors, where he had his First Team debut in the 2012-2013 seasons with a tally of 12 caps. Overall, he featured 96 times in the colours of his home country club, socred 6 goals and made it so far so as to captain the team.
In July 2017, Uruguay’s Torque, a member of City Football Group, signed him to send him on loan to Zwolle. In the Dutch outfit, he was capped 21 times (18 of which in the Eredivisie), scored once and registered 2 assists.
In summer 2018, Brazilian Palmeiras signed him on loan and this was also the case in January 2019, when he was sent on loan to Ecuador’s Quito, registering 14 caps and 4 goals.
In July 2019, Mexican Pumas bought him from Torque. Since then -including the season that just ended, the left-footed central defender has had a tally of 129 caps, 6 goals and 2 assists, being also the team’s captain.
