The coach of Olympiacos, Míchel, after the end of the away game against Lamia and the 3–0 victory, spoke at the press conference of the match.
Below in detail what the Spanish coach of the “red-and-whites” said:
Next week you face Panathinaikos. Your team did not get the victory in two matches, while the picture was “magical;” one was the defeat in Karaiskaki in regard to the incident with Olaitan and the second match was during this year’s first round. Do you owe anything to Panathinaikos?
Firstly, I would like to congratulate my players for their performance against Lamia because without this victory it would not be easy to discuss and analyse the upcoming game – a derby which is special and deserves our attention. I think that whether I have bad or good memories of an opponent, we should always look to the match ahead of us; and I will ask my players to perform at the same level they did during the first round’s match. From that game onwards, we started to show that in the championship anything is possible and we continue to do so to this day. I am not a pessimist, quite the contrary, but at the moment I am a realist.
You have important games coming up with Panathinaikos and AEK. How much can the league score change?
At the moment, I think it’s all up to us. What’s important is that the team continues to show stability, something that has already been achieved to a large extent compared to the team’s status when I took over. We can’t already know the result of PAOK’s match with AEK, but I think that we are four teams that will continue to the playoffs and we all have the chance to differentiate situations in the championship; when I came to the team the odds were not in our favour but, at the moment, we are in good shape in view of the derbies ahead.
