Olympiacos qualified for the “8” of the Greek Cup against Atromitos, with the team’s coach, Míchel, referring to the changes he made in his line-up and generally in the game that took place in Peristeri.
The Spanish coach of the “red-and-whites,” speaking at the press conference following the away 2-2 with Atromitos, initially stressed:
“It was a nice game. Atromitos started well by scoring early on and this may have woken us up, in the case that we might have intended to make a ‘relaxed’ appearance. Throughout the game, we managed to create several goal opportunities, but we played well during the first half. At this point, we had the opportunity to watch some players that we will use in our next games, as well as other footballers who returned from injuries. From now on, our schedule will be tight and we should all be prepared to help; I have to say that I quite like this cup competition”.
A comment on the goal of Marcelo who scored for the third time against Atromitos, as well as Valbuena’s return.
Marcelo’s goal was beautiful and it was the result of an excellent collaboration, something that we work on every day in our training sessions. Valbuena’s return is important for us because he is one of our leaders, but he is also a quality player who we need. He has to work on his fitness following his injury, but he will ease back into things and his return is definitely good news for us.
