As it is the case each year, Olympiacos and Club’s President Mr. Evangelos Marinakis showed their charitable face once again and supported those in need. On Thursday morning (22/12), a club delegation, including Director of CSR Nikos Gavalas and Head of International Relations Kostas Vernikos, paid a visit to the Holy Church of Agios Nikolas, downtown Piraeus. At the initiative of Mr. Marinakis, Olympiacos FC offered food supplies to side with Piraeus Metropolitan Church in their socially supportive cause.
His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim expressed his acknowledgments and gratitude to those who strengthen the Church’s long-standing cause and thanked the leader of Olympiacos Mr. Evangelos Marinakis.
In detail, he said:
“Love is being exalted every year; besides, Christmas is a celebration of love, mercy, geniality and affection. God became human to turn man into God. The Church can do no better than to open its embrace and this what it is doing on a 24/7/365 basis. The Church is happy to see Olympiacos and Club President Evangelos Marinakis being a staunch supporter in this effort of ours. Besides, it was no more than 2 days ago when Olympiacos FC delivered a 10,000-euro cheque to us. This entire amount and the aid provided by our faithful, by our brothers, shall be used for our activities in Drapetsona and Agios Ioannis Rentis, covered in our Metropolitan Region. So, today we have love packages being offered to ease the suffering of our brothers.
In their faces, we see Jesus Christ, born to bring down all forms of authority, oppression, violence and malaise. I would like to warmly thank Olympiacos delegates attending this event, Mr. Gavalas and Mr. Vernikos, who have always been next to us to convey the indivisible love of Mr. Marinakis and the Olympiacos universe. Piraeus is being reflected via Olympiacos’ ideal of “fair play” and thus both the city and the club have built an unbreakable bond. I would like to thank all those who took part. Our efforts lead only to that simple thing, to offering love, affection and a warm embrace to all people in need. Merry and blessed Christmas to all”.
