After the end of our side’s championship away fixture against PAS Ioannina, Olympiacos head coach Michel commented on the squad’s second-half performance. It was the time when the red-and-white team conceded 2 goals turning their 2-goal lead into the final 2-2 draw:
“Despite the stops, we totally dominated the pitch, our pace was great, we managed to take the lead and, all in all, we played well before the break. In the second half, although we discussed in the dressing room about changing nothing and putting our pressure high enough, we didn’t do it; we did exactly the opposite. Our second-half performance was poor and suffered the consequences”.
Answering a question on Kostas Fortounis display and his brace, the Spanish coach said: “Kostas Fortounis plays well lately and this is why he scored two goals; it’s the outcome of his recent spending performance. All players delivered in the first half and we kept control of ball possession and the overall pace of the match. After the break, this got lost and we gave our opponents the space to counter-attack. Therefore, we completely lost track of the match’s rhythm and they managed to score 2 goals. Indeed, Fortounis did put on the perfect display in the first half”.
