Olympiacos has frequently proved that the team is not limited to sports, but makes part of our daily life and society. It is not just about the game inside the playing fields, but also about the gestures outside of them.
So with the team’s young friend, in a school far away from the Attica basin, the way a simple gesture can bring tears of joy to a young child who is in need of a getaway from everyday life and Olympiacos readily extended this feeling. It started with a teacher’s message from the above school in which she stated:
“I happen to have a student in my class who is a fan of your team. He worships Olympiacos and gets excited just hearing the team’s name! However, this child has learning difficulties accompanied by serious motor function issues. Before school started, this child’s mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. The news weighed heavy on the entire family and the result, as we all know, was to be isolated. This child –due to his condition– has developed a special bond with the maternal figure. Therefore, this isolation was a blow for our young friend.”
The teacher was looking for a way, through Olympiacos, to offer joy to her student. Naturally, Olympiacos responded and our young friend received his “red-and-white” gifts, which made him cry tears of joy; as the teacher responded: “For the first time, I saw real tears of joy flowing from his eyes.”
