Olympiacos FC announces the return of Spanish coach Michel. Born on March 23rd 1963, the 59-year-old coach is back to Olympiacos following his original spell of glory days in both Greece and Europe.
Former Real Madrid and Spanish National team legend has been at the helm of Olympiacos for a golden 2-year period (4/2/13 – 6/1/15), in which he led the team for 91 matches with a tally of 65 wins, 11 draws and 15 defeats.
He won two championship titles (2012-2013, 2013-2014) and one Cup (2012-2013), and led the team to victorious European evenings against top clubs, such as Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Benfica and Anderlecht. During Michel’s tenure, our champions made it to the top-16 of the 2013-2014 Champions League competition. His name has been written in golden letters in our Legend’s book of glorious history.
Michel started his coaching career from Rayo Vallecano, then moved to Real Madrid’s sports city where he worked as the Director and Castilla’s coach. In 2009, he was appointed as Getafe’s coach, then moved to Sevilla and in Olympiacos. Following Greece, he worked in Marseille, Malaga, Pumas (Mexico) and then Getafe again.
