Mission accomplished for Olympiacos; our side overcame the obstacle set by Apollon Limassol in G. Karaiskakis on their way to the UEFA Europa League group stage, in the penalty shootout.
The final whistle found both teams level (1-1) and Olympiacos delivered the goods on penalties (3-1).
The “red-and-white” team made a strong entry and scored an early opener in 2’ with Masouras, but Apollon Limassol managed to equalize in 90’ courtesy of Pittas. On penalties, Tomáš Vaclík excelled and saved 3 penalties to earn our side the qualification to the competition’s group stage.
