Details of the Olympiacos coach interview to Cosmote TV:
On his understanding of the match: “It was a demanding and really intense match, and well-played one by us. Of course, we lost but the tie is still open and we can still claim our qualification. Before our fans, I do believe we can qualify. We will play with respect to Olympiacos and I think that, with our fans present, we will be even stronger. I told my players at the dressing room that coming Thursday we shall qualify”.
On his selections for the line-up: “Atalanta is a fast and challenging team, but they also have some weak points. By capping Henry and Masouras, we tried to avail ourselves of them. We did so many times but, in certain cases, we lacked a good final pass. Aguibou is a fast and energetic player and we needed him at that point in order to exploit Atalanta’s gaps. Olympiacos deserves more respect. We saw that Tiquinho was called for a foul that wasn’t at all and another foul was called while we were in counter-attack. Olympiacos deserves more respect and this is what we are waiting for by everybody”.
On the fact that both goals were conceded in a set piece: “This is football; these things do happen. We didn’t use our own chances in the first half and we paid the price for that by conceding twice from a set piece. This is football; one pays the price if not effective when it’s time to be so”.
On whether he will change the way the side defends the goal in corner kicks: “No matter what system ones opts for in set pieces, it’s all about being effective. We have to work more on that”.
