Read below words of our side’s coach to the Cosmote TV:
“In the first half, we set out really bad. Truth be told, we were very frightened. We showed too much respect to our opponent. We did not go after the ball in neutral areas. In the 1st half, we committed only one foul and that happened just before the break. In the second, we played truly in the Olympiacos way as was our intention in the first half. We found our true identity kai we had 2-3 chances to bring the match at 1-1. If we had scored, things would have been different. We were closer to levelling the match than City was to making it 2-0. Then they scored the second and that was the end of it. In the second half, we put pressure on our opponent, we balanced ball possession, yet we conceded two late goals. “.
On the fact that, once again, his side failed to use the first half: “Every match may be individually explained. Today we showed too much respect to our opponent. We did not play as usual, we stayed back waiting for them and gave them lots of space, which we normally don’t do. After the break, we found ourselves. The difference between these two halves had more to do with our state of mind, rather than our physical state”.
On whether Olympiacos is able to clinch a positive result in the Karaiskakis encounter against City: “We can do it as long as we perform like we did it in the 2nd half tonight. I am sad with the 1st half. We could have done things better. If we display the 2nd half’s attitude also in Karaiskakis, then we have what it takes to get such a good result”.
