At the Federation’s General Assembly, Mr. Huber, representing International Cofederations, suggested that football executives should cut down on talking to the media.
Loquacious as he might be, Mr. Hubel found now words to spare –along with other representatives of International Cofederations currently in Athens- about the grim event that took place 3 months ago at OAKA at the break of the Greek Cup’s first semi-final (AEK vs Aris), officiated by Portuguese Artur Ribeiro Soares Dias. When AΕK’s owner, a person of infamous pedigree, attacked the referee calling him names and grabbing him from his genitals.
This unutterable “man of football” was left unpunished -once again- for his act that humiliates Greek football and clearly demonstrates why our sport remains a victim at the hands of the underground.
What exactly have you, Mr. Hubel done against such an extreme fact? You even failed to mention or discuss about it although this should have been your starting point as an odious example to avoid. What was the reaction by representatives of International Federations or HFF’s golden boys? Needless to look for an answer; they did nothing.
The sanction – a disgraceful ‘slap on the wrist’- of only a few-months ban that, given the coronavirus league pause, has been served at its greatest part.
Please, tell us what would have been the case if such an attack were to happen against a match official/referee by a club owner during any UEFA Europa League or Champions League match or any FIFA-organised competition? Or if the said attack had taken place during a match of the English, Spanish or German league?
Maybe there are different rules that apply in the dilapidated Greek football? Unless you are only sensitive when it comes to interviews or statements by football executives.
The least Mr. Hubel and his associates could do against the said conduct, as a minimum sign of protest, given that in fact they did nothing, was to leave our country, kick us out of all European competitions, so that Greek football may be truly cleansed of such phenomena.
And it is us saying so, the single country ambassadors in European football, who will be dearly affected by such a move; if this is to ultimately help the legality be restored in Greek football and clean the place up, then may it happen!
Besides, Messrs Ceferin and Lakovic, sadly enough, Greek football is sinking further down, in the abysmal world of those who truly run the show and get winked at by all. This is questioned by nobody and the Prime minister and his Government’s competent ministers should take that into serious consideration, if they really want Greek football to be clean and upgraded!!!
