The land in which one of Olympiacos top defenders ever, Olof Mellberg, started his football spell, is now where the Legend has established its point of reference and opened its channel for identifying and screening new Swedish, Nordic and Northern European talents.
This is the 2nd Schoool of Football of Olympiacos launched in Europe, strengthening thus its international Network of Schools, following Chicago, Washington, Melbourne, and Cyprus. Quick steps are now taken so that, after its top Network of Football Schools in Greece, Olympiacos continues making a global mark.
This partnership at the Schools level is deployed with Hammarö FK football club, located in the same-named town (Hammarö), south of Sweden, between capital Stockholm and the port of Goteborg; it is very close to Degerfors where Olof Melberg took his first steps in football!
A partnership between both sides has started a long time ago, including visits by local football federation, attendance in the seminar organized by the Olympiacos’ Schools held last October and demonstration of the Women football project.
This collaboration will continue in an equally powerful way shortly, since, coming June, there is an Olympiacos summer camp του Ολυμπιακού to be held there to assess young players and perform visits to local entities and clubs.
Before that, selected players of the local football union, for the 2nd year in a row, will visit Piraeus for trials and friendly matches.
Head of our School in Sweden will be Alexandros Makrygiannis along with Dave Mosson and Tomas Ullman, top experts and specialists in football in Sweden and the wider area.
Inspired by an idea of Thanassis Makrygiannis as a result of his love for Piraeus and Olympiacos, our club –headed by our leader Mr. Evangelos Marinakis– remains at the forefront and stands out amongst football academies, increasingly securing its international mastery.
