Mr. Marinakis and Olympiacos FC demonstrate daily, 365 days a year, through their actions, that they stand by those in need! The leader of the Piraeus team has been offering substantial support for years to the Holy Metropolis of the city where Olympiacos is based, and especially during Easter, more than 7,500 parcels of food and essential items were made available to people struggling to survive with dignity under difficult economic conditions.
The Holy Metropolis of Piraeus, in recognition of all that Mr. Marinakis has contributed, awarded him for his great charitable work following the big concert against poverty held today (May 13) at the Veakeio Theater. Also, an honoring award was conferred to Mrs. Marianna Vardinoyannis, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and President of the Elpida Association.
During his award presentation by His Eminence, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus, Mr. Marinakis stated: “Your Eminence, I would like to thank you for this medal, for this very significant distinction. I would like to once again promise you, and history has shown that we keep our promises, that I will stand by your side as long as we have our health, strength, and ability to make your dreams for the Metropolis of Piraeus and the assistance you offer to the less fortunate and all the people of Piraeus come true.
The same goes for the Municipality of Piraeus because Piraeus is the city we love, where we grew up, and it gives us great joy to stand by the Municipality, as well as Mrs. Marianna Vardinoyannis. Rest assured that in the years to come, we will stand by you in the mission of ‘Elpida,’ and once again, I want to thank you all for this wonderful evening. I wish you all the best.”
