“These are the benefits of football in times of purging. We wanted to go on playing and score more goals. Of course, this could not happen”, these words of Olympiacos Director of Communication Kostas Karapappas, after the Legend’s match against PAO in OAKA was finally interrupted, fully depict the winning approach of Olympiacos to this encounter.
Olympiacos was intimidated from playing football and winning the match neither by the UNPRECEDENTED pitch invasion of Panathinaikos hooligans against our side’s bench within 5 minutes after kick off –in which even a real KNIFE (!!!) was seen and our team physical trainer Christos Mourikis was hit, or by the permanent risk of new clashes (there was obvious and imminent danger for new riots to start from where the host team’s fan clubs were seated). And we stood our ground until the moment that Panathinaikos fans decided to clash with the Police, leading to tear gas and other chemical agents filing the OAKA air again; this made referee Fritz to call for final interruption of the match due to lack of safety.
