Olympiacos continues the tradition of developing relationships with various universities, from the USA and beyond, which often visit our team’s facilities at Rentis Training Center and at Karaiskakis Stadium, in order to experience closely the functioning of a top football club, with a leading role both in Greece and in Europe. This was what happened once again, when, on Thursday and Friday, May 17th and 18th, 2018, students of the Rutgers University in the USA, specializing in kinesiology, as well as two of their escorts, visited the facilities of Olympiacos Training Center in Rentis and the Karaiskakis Stadium.
The goal of this visit was for them to learn about the way Olympiacos is organized and functions and, due to their specialty, to get information about the practical application of medical science in football.
The students were welcomed and guided through the Training Center by OLYMPIACOS FC’s CSR Director, Mr. Domenikos Masoulas, who explained the philosophy, values and organizational structure of our team in a presentation that took place in the Training Center’s Seminar Room. Then, there was a special mention for the wider social work of OLYMPIACOS and Mr. Evangelos Marinakis.
Afterwards, the team doctor, Mr. Christos Theos, presented in detail to the students the functioning of the medical team both for the main team and for the Academy, as well as the procedures for prevention and treatment of injuries, a field to which Olympiacos’ medical staff gives special attention.
There was then a guided tour in OLYMPIACOS Museum and Karaiskakis Stadium.
On Friday, the students attended the training sessions of our Academy’s youth teams and had the opportunity to talk with the coaches, who explained them the goals and benefits of the different exercises. At the same time, the Technical Director of the Academy, Mr. Nikos Topoliatis, went through the philosophy behind the functioning of the Academy.
The students of Rutgers University got the best impression of Olympiacos and its organization and thanked wholeheartedly for the opportunity they were given to get to know closely our team’s people and facilities.
Olympiacos remains a pioneer in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility and is constantly trying to transmit knowledge and know-how to all those who are interested in learning how our Club functions!
