“Truth is that tonight Arsenal deserved to win. It was the side that was worthy of going forward. We made mistakes and received punishment for these; this is football.
We had our share of chances to score, but we failed to convert. If ones takes a look at the match statistics, one will see that we had 12 goal-scoring chances and they had four. However, they were good at using them and taking the goals they needed“.
On the side’s spell in the Europa League:
“First we wait for the draw and then we look what we shall do”.

“It is always difficult to play against a club like Arsenal and players like Giroud. We had the opportunity to deliver a great performance and we did so during great part of the match. I don’t think that Arsenal was better than us. There were many time spans when we were better than our opponent. Having said that, I believe we lost our pace a bit, made some mistakes that enabled Arsenal to claim goals and they did so. Of course, a side like Arsenal is capable of exploiting all mistakes and they did so.
We performed well for great part of the match, we produced a great display against Arsenal and I think we gave them a hard time. As said before, Arsenal is capable of exploiting all mistakes of their opponent. We did some and paid dearly for them. I can say that Arsenal was the squad that made less mistakes and that led them to victory”.
What should Olympiacos take out of this year’s spell in the UEFA Champions League:
“The first thing we should take out is the knowledge about the mistakes we made and the fact that we should not commit them in the future again. For all of us, both players and the technical staff, the UEFA Europa League is a very important competition. We now have the opportunity, there, to give our best and go as far as possible. In no case do we underestimate it. It is a very important competition and some great clubs used to play there. As said before, we must correct the mistakes we did, the ones that cost us our qualification and of course, I hope we improve ourselves, regardless of the mistakes that have cost us, so that we correct mistakes in the next UEFA Europa League».
