“Things were really difficult for us following the first leg’s outcome. It was difficult to qualify following the very unfortunate result in Kiev. Today, we kicked off the match well, we played well in the first 15 minutes. We then did not implement the things we had prepared. We conceded an easy goal and after that, things became really difficult for us.”
On what happened following the equaliser:
“It’s not that we did not try, but we all knew that we needed to score four goals. We knew this was a difficult task. We entered the pitch for the second half with faith, but then our player was shown the red card and things became even harder for us.”
On the successive matches and whether there is fatigue:
“We play for Olympiacos and we know since the first moment in the club that we have many matches to play in many competitions in the season. We were prepared for this. Talking right now does not serve any purpose. We can talk all we want, however what’s done is done. We need to concentrate on the upcoming matches. We are still participating in two competitions, the Greek Cup and the Championship. We want to win these two competitions, therefore the only thing we need to do is to continue trying and working.”
Kostas Fortounis
“We conceded a goal following a set piece and this really threw us off, we lost pace. We had entered the match really strongly and after that we lost our tempo and things were difficult.”
On whether the qualification was determined in Kiev:
“We had the opportunity to turn the match, however, as I said before, we conceded a ridiculous goal following a set piece. Dnipro are good with set pieces. We did not pay attention where we should and no matter what we say now, we cannot go back and replay the match.”
On whether Olympiacos can win the double:
“We are still competing in the Championship and the Cup. We want to win both competitions and we fight to make this happen. European competitions are over for us. We now focus on the championship and the Greek Cup.”
On the Greek championship and the latest developments:
“Many things need to change. The situation in Leoforos was a shame. These things happen in many stadia. It’s best to change this. People outside Greece should look at us and feel happy and not see us in this condition.”
