Ibrahim Afellay:
“The outcome is definitely disappointing, we did not deserve to lose, we deserved something more. We played as a team, we supported one another; this display was very positive.”
On the match against Atlético:
“It will definitely be a critical match, especially given the standings at the moment. We need to win in order to be able to control our fate and the qualification is now in our hands.”
On the fans:
“They have proven that they support us in the best possible way in every match. I am glad they did this tonight as well and I believe they will be equally enthusiastic in the future.”
Alberto Botía:
On how the goal was scored:
“The match was in a tie at that moment therefore this goal was important for me, but we lost the match after that. Roberto helped us with his saving the penalty. We look at the future and we must see what we will do in the upcoming matches. It was a really intense match; Juventus was pressing from the kick-off, we conceded a goal but when we tied the match we were calmer. During the second half, Juventus wanted to win, there was great pressure, they scored two goals in two minutes and it was difficult for us to react at the end.”
On the upcoming matches:
“We feel optimistic about the next match, we want to win in order to qualify for the next round.”
On the fans:
“Our fans deserve our respect; I knew from the warm-up that they were there to help. This support is really important for us both on home and on away matches.”
Delvin N’Dinga:
“We should only focus on the two away goals we scored. I did not like our reaction following our leading the score. We should be optimistic about the two next matches; the qualification may not depend on us, but we should nonetheless be equally passionate; we could focus on how we pressed Juventus.”
Olympiacos TV:
Ibrahim Afellay:
“It was a disaster for us because in no case did we deserve this outcome; we played really well today, we played as a team, we fought to the final whistle, all opportunities favoured us but we did not manage to win.”
“The first match against Atlético Madrid is really important because we need a positive result there so we can control the fate of our qualification.”
“I feel really well in the club since my first day here; both the club and my teammates and everyone here have helped me, they helped me acclimatise really quickly. I experience beautiful moments in Olympiacos and I really don’t have enough words to describe our fans, they are always helping us very much.”
“We are closer to the Champions League because everything depends on us, we control our fate and we will fight until the end.”
Alberto Botía:
“The team worked really well, however we did not manage to win the match, but we are very happy with our display.”
What is the reason behind this loss?
“This is how football works: anything can happen, we were lucky and tied the game, we were lucky to score the second goal, however we did not manage to keep up. Anything can happen in football and this is how we should continue.”
Could the next two matches be counted as “finals” for the team?
“The only thing we can tell is that we need to fight and play the way we have done so far and amass points in order to qualify.”
