Olympiacos has been continuously standing against all forms of racism and discrimination by means of the club’s actions and partnerships, both inside and outside the pitch!
Our club will participate in FARE’s campaign, starting today and planned to complete on October 23rd, which will include a series of activities aimed at raising awareness in the world of football about these issues.
This campaign is entitled “Football People” and for two weeks, football clubs from around the world will share a triple objective: 1) to raise public awareness about cases of discrimination in football, 2) to create a single front that will bring together all football-related organizations and 3) to develop ideas and new practices so as to eliminate any chance of instigating such phenomena.
The campaign is the result of FARE’s beliefs that, being the most popular sport in the world, football belongs to all of us and may set the grounds for social cohesion.
The aim is to eradicate all forms of discrimination (racism, discrimination between genders, homophobia and discrimination against people with special capabilities, amongst others). It must be pointed out that FARE has more than 130 members in over 30 European countries and it is now active outside Europe, in areas such as America, S. Africa, Santa Lucia and Brazil.
Everything started back in 2001, as a small campaign in nine countries and it has grown to become the biggest campaign against discrimination in sports. In 2013, more than 46 countries took part in no less than 1,500 actions across the world. During all 40 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League fixtures, a message against discrimination was broadcasted to millions of people, both in the stadiums and on TV.
Being always true to its ideas and club values, the Legend will help convey these messages in every possible way!
