ΤOlympiacos adds its own…ice cube in the effort to raise awareness on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Already, many of our team members have accepted…the challenge to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge, which has taken the world’s social media by storm. The person nominated by an acquaintance of his/hers or not must dump a bucket of ice water over their heads and then challenge three more people to follow their example within 24 hours.
The last “red-and-white” who could not say no to such a challenge, was our coach, Mr. Michel, who got his share of ice water on Monday (click HERE for the video)!
Before him, it was our players turn, Balasz Megyeri, Pajtim Kasami, Alejandro Dominguez, Roberto, Jose Cholevas, Gevorg Ghazaryan and Omar Elabdellaoui.
Of course, we should pinpoint that this gesture that may be perceived by many as a game, is of particular importance and we must not forget that. Our objective is to raise public awareness about ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a particularly severe disease, and to raise funds for scientific research and cure of ALS via www.alsa.org. It is a progressive degenerative disease that affects motor neurons and until now, no effective cure has been developed against it.
