Mr Michel opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation for Olympiacos with Megyeri at the goal. Salino was on the right of our defense, with Gaetan Bong on the left, and Kostas Manolas with Ivan Marcano at the center. Giannis Maniatis and Delvin N’Dinga took on the midfield. Alejandro Dominguez was placed in front of them, whereas, at the wings, Joel Campbell was on the right and David Fuster on the left. Nelson Valdez was the side’s striker.
the match started with an 1 hour and 16 minute delay, since as soon as the teams entered the pitch, PAOK fans lighted up countless smoke bombs while some of them also threw fish to our side’s bench apart from the numerous objects being casted without stop; as a result, the atmosphere was absolutely unbearable.
Even after kick-off, no football was actually played, since our players had to perform under very adverse conditions, suffer provocations and extremely harsh and dangerous ball challenges. However, just a few minutes into second half, in 47’, Athanasiadis gave PAOK the lead from a set piece. The Legend had had its share of scoring the qualifying equalizer, but failed to do so since it was left 10-man following Maniatis’ sent-off. PAOK was also left one man short after Natcho was shown a red card. Our players had been in fact attacked by PAOK supporters and staff after the final whistle!
OLYMPIACOS: Megyeri, Salino (71’ Machado), Bong (83’ Samaris), Marcano, Manolas, N’Dinga, Maniatis, Dominguez, Campbell, Fuster (71’ Saviola), Valdez.
