Ahead of Tuesday’s (25/2) match against Manchester United, anyone who wishes will be able to send a text message (SMS) from Monday 24/2 at 09:00 until Wednesday 26/2 at 22:00 in order to contribute to this common effort by OLYMPIACOS and UNICEF.
Type ΠΑΙΔΙ and send it to 54234 in order to contribute one euro to our effort. It takes a single message to save a child’s life and then the text message sender will become a true “Legend” for a human life!
In the context of this initiative, our goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez said:
“Children have rights and we have obligations towards them. Our biggest one is to make sure across the world that they live and grow under healthy and safe conditions. That’s why we should be present and support such efforts like the one made by UNICEF. OLYMPIACOS represents a shining example to this direction. The Administration, we the players and the fans, all do stand next to UNICEF in any way possible. This is why we send these SMS for the children. Sending at least one text message may save the life of a child!»
From his part, our defensive half Andreas Samaris said:
“Everybody in Olympiacos understands our responsibility to society and our history. This is the reason we chose to substantially support UNICEF; to join this huge cause for the vaccination of all children. This is our way to help thousands of children in Greece and abroad. It is important that everybody contributes to this effort. An SMS may save a child. Let us send more than one!”
OLYMPIACOS-UNICEF PARTNERSHIP
Aim of this partnership is to raise public awareness and collect two million euros by the end of 2015, which equals to the vaccination of 50,000 children both in Greece and abroad. Besides, this is why the Olympiacos team shirt features the UNICEF logo!
This initiative is being carried out in the context of UNICEF’s world campaign entitled “100% Campaign” on children vaccination. It must be publicly known that 1.5 million children all over the world die each years from diseases that could have been dealt with by means of vaccination. That means one child every 20 seconds.
