Before kick-off, all Olympiacos players enfolded a large banner in the middle of the pitch writing “8/2/1981” and “Our brothers you still live and lead our way”, in memory of the 21 supporters who lost their lives on February 8th 1981 in the tragedy of Gate 7.
Match-wise, Roberto was under the goalpost; in defense, from right to left, there was Papazoglou, Manolas, Marcano and Bong. Samaris and N’Dinga were the center midfielders, with Perez and Campbell in the wings. “Chori” was placed before Sepovic in Olympiacos attack line.
The first part ended in 0-0, and the opener came in 59’! Olaitan made the parallel return pass inside the box, where incoming Dominguez headed it home for our side’s first goal!
In 69’ “Chori” connected from the right and crossed it to the far post where lurking Perez scored from close range his first ever goal with the Olympiacos jersey! In fact, in 70’, “Chori” challenged the ball high up, made the steal outside the box and stormed ahead and passed it on time to incoming Olaitan who scored from close, and 3-0!
In 85’, Ibagaza made an extraordinary pass to Dominguez who returned it to Maniatis in the goal area who made it 4 for our side. In injury time, Olaitan turned it to a rampant win for the Legend, since in 90’+2 carved the final 0-5 following a papazoglou back pass.
