Olympiacos FC President Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis decided that the FC would undertake to cover the cost of reconstructing school buildings in the towns of Lixouri and Argostoli that suffered damages as a result of recent earthquakes that shook the island of Cephalonia.
This initiative of Olympiacos FC has been immediately accepted by the Greek Minister of National Education and Religious Affairs Mr. Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, whose help will make it possible to speed up all procedures to the benefit of the pupils of suffering Cephalonia.
On the occasion of this initiative, Olympiacos FC President Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis made the following statement:
“OLYMPIACOS stands next to the Cephalonians who suffer. Solidarity and compassion are concepts closely related to the history, principles and values of our club. It is necessary for the people living in Cephalonia to feel safe and for their children to keep going to school.
For this reason, we took the initiative to cover the restructuring cost of the schools suffering damages as a result of recent earthquakes, so that pupils will be able to return back to school swiftly and safely. OLYMPIACOS proves in practice that it is the top club in Greece and one of Europe’s finest both inside and outside the football pitch”.
