Mr. Michel, our side’s coach, made the following comment after the end of the UEFA Champions League draw that brought Manchester United on the course of Olympiacos, to the OlympiacosTV camera.
Initially, he stated:
“We are very pleased to be part of this draw. There is no thing bigger to ask for. We know what is happening right now. It will be a huge celebration for football, our fans, the club and the people of Piraeus”.
On the significance of playing against such a great football club, he said:
“As I have said, being here to play against Manchester United, such a historic club for world football, is something that we all deserve and nobody may take away from us the right to dream and aspire to do things the way we should”.
On the support of Olympiacos and Manchester United to UNICEF-led actions and whether this encounter will be a good reason to further promote this cause, he stressed:
“This is indeed an opportunity, both from an athletic and societal point of view. We are not just a football club; we are a social organization having an impact on lots of people and, in this case, children in particular”.
From his side, Avraam Papadopoulos said toOlympiacosTV:
“Definitely, this is a difficult draw; besides, this is Europe’s top 16. Having said that, I think that getting to this point is a huge success in its own right. We want to enjoy what future holds for us and to give our best; I believe that our side has got potential. We see that the side is continuously improving.
It will be a set of two largely important and challenging fixtures for all of us. We will work in the meantime to become even better and to be able to give our best. I believe that the side has potential and, with our fans on our side, we have our share of chances to achieve something more”.
On the joint effort of both clubs in favor of UNICEF, he stressed:
“This fact and the initiative taken by the Olympiacos Administration with respect to UNCIEF are very important. Besides that, I believe it is a chance to demonstrate that even more and let people know of this initiative; I hope in the future more clubs will follow this path”.
