Another huge success for our side! The Legend prevailed over Anderlecht by 3-1 at “G. Karaiskakis” stadium and proceeded to Europe’s top 16 clubs; now, Olympiacos is waiting for its next opponent for UEFA Champions League round of 16, following a Monday draw (16/12).
Roberto was protecting the goal. Salino, Cholevas, Manolas and Siovas were in defense. Samaris and Machado covered the center midfield. Campbell and Fuster took on the wings, whereas Saviola and Olaitan were in the attack.
The match kicked off with Olympiacos trying to take the upper hand from the beginning. In the opening 15 minutes our side dominated on the pitch.
The longed-for goal for our side came no so late! Olympiacos took charge of the match, with Saviola, after controlling the ball in the box, slotting home a left-foot shot for 1-0, amid delirious celebrations!
Anderlecht refused to quit the match, despite having no actual incentive. In fact, they managed to level the match in 39’ with Kljiestan.
In the second half, our side set foot on the pitch determined to win the match. In 49’, Anderlecht’s Kouyate receives his second booking after a handball inside the box, leading to a penalty call by the referee.

Our players were determined to score the third, and they did so thanks to a successful spot kick by Dominguez in the 5th minute of injury time; the ball flew deep in the net for the final 3-1, sealing thus a rejoicing qualification for our side to Europe’s top 16 clubs!
