Mr. Michel opted for several subs in the starting line-up fielded in Livadia National Stadium. Roberto kept his position between the sticks. In defense, Bong took on the left, Salino the right, whereas Siovas and Manolas were the stoppers. Maniatis and Samaris were the centre midfielders, with Fuster on the left and Campbell on the right side of the offense. The attacking duo included Saviola and Olaitan.
Our side had the upper hand and was not late to convert, since in 16′ Saviola scored the penalty he earned for 0-1. No more goals were scored after that until the end of the half, despite our side’s chances.
After the break, Olympiacos stormed in aggressively. Several minutes later, in 70ʼ, our squad seemed to assure the win. Fuster took on the free kick from the right-hand side and Mitroglou headed it neatly for 2-0 !
The Legend was far from done with only two goals; 3-0 was the product of Weiss firing home.
In 89΄, it was Mitroglou’s turn to strike back for 0-4 following a Fuster feed, whereas the final score 0-5 occurred in 90′, courtesy once again of the Greek striker.
