Following the top friendly match in Anfield to honor Steven Gerrard between Olympiacos and Liverpool, a great event for charitable purposes took place. Gerrard had a gala dinner organized at the Liverpool ACC Arena, on behalf of the Steven Gerrard Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children in need and kids suffering with diseases.
Olympiacos, an ever sensitive club when it comes to charities, attended that event and, in fact, President Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis informed the English player during the event that he would be making a substantial donation to the Steven Gerrard Foundation in the amount of GBP 100,000! Gerrard himself climbed up on the specially configured stage together with the gala host and announced that generous gesture by Mr. Marinakis to all people attending.
All guests gave a warm applause the offer by Olympiacos President and Gerrard added: “Words are not enough. The President of Olympiacos donates to our Foundation the significant amount of GBP 100,000 and for that I would like to cordially thank him from the bottom of my heart μου. I thank Mr. Marinakis and all people from Olympiacos for being here, right by our side”! Then, he stepped down from the stage and personally thanked Mr. Marinakis; both men had a brief chat. Besides, we must not forget that Olympiacos is making plans for its own charity foundation, the Olympiacos Foundation, and that our club’s President keeps helping others always at the top of the agenda!
