Carroll protected the side’s goal. Modesto, Cholevas, Siovas and Manolas took on defensive duties. Fejsa, Maniatis and Machado were in the midfield, with Abdoun, Fuster and Mitroglou on the offense.
Olympiacos entered the pitch aggressively and created several opportunities against the opponent goal, particularly in 7′. However, it was Asteras that scored the opener in 14′, courtesy of Rajos.
In the minutes that followed, Olympiacos tried to regain control of the match and stay focused despite Asteras goal. Our side’s equalizer was registered in 42′ when Abdoun’s cross met Fuster whose shot landed deep in the net.
Until the 90th minute, our side failed to score the winning one, so the encounter was led to overtime. In 98′, following a corner kick by Pino, Fuster launched the header, Fullop made a difficult save and Djebbour tapped it in from close range for our side’s 2-1. In 119′, Abdoun’s penalty kick signed the final 3-1.
