Olympiacos President, Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis, just before the kick off for Olympiacos vs Xanthi encounter, honored Giovanni Silva de Oliveira for what he had offered to our team. Besides, the “red and whites” found thus a way … to modestly celebrate the launch of their collaboration with the Brazilian wizard, who, from now on, will stand for the club’s eyes in Brazil and act as the club’s representative there!
Roughly 15 minutes before the match started, Giovanni, touched enough, was at the exit point of the tunnel into the “G. Karaiskakis” stadium pitch. He was emotionally moved, no reason to hide that. He would look around him, the places where he was glorified many years ago. The stadium matrix screens displayed a beautiful video clip with the wizard’s achievements with the red-and-white jersey on! The crowd was warming up and could barely wait for their idol, the football player all adored.
Once the video clip was over, Olympiacos President and Giovanni made their entrance in the pitch, where a huge white poster was laid, saying in red letters: “Thank you for being amongst us, Ball magician”! Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis handed “Gio” with a plaque with the following engraving “For ever in our port”both in Greek and the mother tongue of the “wizard”. Everyone from the crowd was on their feet, cheering in exaltation, applauding and singing chants for the Brazilian.
He then took the microphone to say a few words. He wanted to show Olympiacos fans what all this love meant to him. “I love you”, he shouted and the crowd replied “Giovanni, Giovanni, for ever in our port”! The “wizard” left the pitch under relentless applauding by the people…
Giovanni said to the OlympiacosTV camera:
“I am very happy to be here again, in Karaiskaki stadium; very happy for this celebration organized by Olympiacos for me and, every time, I feel more and more proud to belong to the Olympiacos family”.
