These are the statements made by the President of Olympiacos FC:
“Olympiacos can manage difficult situations. Tonight we were pleased to see young players performing well. I think that the result is unfair for us, we deserved the tie at least and especially in the first half we should have taken the lead. We won some new players based on their performance. I do believe that in the next games we will be even better.
I am optimistic. I would like to congratulate the players and our wonderful fans who did not stop supporting us. We heard some nice words and Arsenal’s officials said that they did not expect for Olympiacos to be that good.
We saw young Greek players performing well and being at the level of top players who are very well paid, like the ones of Arsenal. To us, it does not matter whether they earn more or less. I want to support Greek players.
The team lacked some important players, yet we played very well. We could have reached a very good result. It was a tough match and they ran a lot, but what we bear in mind is that we managed to deal with its difficulties. I trust the team and I believe that with a bit of luck we will be even better.
We proved that we can play very well not only in the Greek championship, but in Europe too. We fully support the players and the staff”.
