Leonardo Jardim is, officially, Olympiacos’s new head coach. The Portuguese manager will sit on our team’s bench for the next two years and olympiacos.org makes a short presentation.
Jardim is 38 years old and was born of Portuguese parents on August 1st, 1974, in Venezuela. He returned to his country at a young age and was relocated in Madeira. His age is not indicative of his experience as a manager, as he has coached various clubs for several years.
In 2001 he started his career, as an assistant coach at A.D. Camacha, where he remained for two years (up to 2003). He was then promoted to head coach and kept his place till the mid of 2007-08 season.
He then moved to G.D. Chaves, with which he gained promotion to the Portuguese second division. In 2009 he was appointed as the head coach of S.C. Beira Mar, achieving another promotion, this time to the top division. He remained there for two years.
His results during his cooperation with S.C. Beira Mar earned him a “spot” at the S.C. Braga bench. He managed to finish in the third place of the championship, behind S.L. Benfica and F.C. Porto. His 13 consecutive victories this year are worth mentioning.
His achievement with S.C. Braga earned him the respect of his countrymen, who consider him to be the best manager in Portugal, this season.
