Kevin Mirallas, Avraam Papadopoulos, Djamel Abdoun, Yiannis Fetfatzidis, Tassos Papazoglou and Dimitris Diamantakos visited the Naval Station of Salamina, escorted by the Head of Football Department, Tassos Mitropoulos. Upon their arrival, a great surprise awaited them, as they were greeted by more than 300 people, of all age groups.
The relation between Olympiacos and the Sea is extreme, since the club’s President, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis himself is involved with the Naval Industry.
Our club’s representatives were received by Senior Commander Michalaros, Commander of the Navy Koumenos, as well as a number of other officers escorted by their children!
Not being able to hide his emotions, Tassos Mitropoulos stated the following: “We have been thinking about honouring the Naval Forces for a while now, as we hold it as something very important for our country. We are connected by the Sea, the Port and Piraeus and we shouldn’t forget that our President, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis is also involved with the Naval Industry. Olympiacos has always been close to the Navy and will, of course, continue to be. I have served the Navy myself, fact that makes me even happier”.
Members of “Gate 7” of Salamina also attended, welcomed the bus of Olympiacos upon its arrival at the Naval Station with songs and chants and offered a memorial plaque for head coach Ernesto Valverde.
