Amid difficult times, and not just for our country, we all ought to think about “tomorrow” and support great initiatives. Olympiacos proceeds yet again to a significant social contribution, by supporting ARCTUROS in their effort to protect wildlife, as well as the environment. The first step for our club was to adopt Manolis; a young bear from the Brown Bear Shelter!
Manolis is a very young (8 year-old) male bear, weighing 240kg. In 2004 he was found by a local farmer, as an orphan in the mountain area of Kastoria, along with his brother Kyriakos. His rehabilitation to the natural environment was somewhat impossible due to his familiarization with humans in the area. He now lives in the Brown Bear Shelter that ARCTUROS holds in the area of Nimfeo, Florina, in a 50-acre-wide forest. Manolis grew up to be a healthy and strong bear! If he were a football player, he would surely play in the offensive line! He is rather spirited and often claims leadership from the older bears in the Shelter.
Olympiacos is always very sensitive when it comes to important matters that contribute to a better “tomorrow” for the environment and wildlife and that’s why our club decided to adopt courageous Manolis! Bear adoption helps support the function of the Brown Bear shelter and provides ARCTUROS with the chance to take more efficient care of the ex captive, injured or orphan wild animals.
Manolis, welcome to the family of Olympiacos!
