Yiannis Maniatis: “It was a very important game for us. We wanted to keep up our good performances after the victory against Dortmund. Our team was serious and concentrated from the beginning to the end of the game and so we managed to win. It is true that I was out for a long time and so I tried hard to meet the game’s expectations. I still need some time, but the good thing is that we won. We are working hard during trainings. All footballers follow our coach’s instructions. We try to win every game because that’s what our team needs. I hope we can continue at this pace and I think we can, as we have a large number of very talented players. Working hard gives us the chance to play quality football and that was more than evident today when even the crowd of Panionios applauded players like Ibagaza; one of the greatest players who we are fortunate enough to have on our squad. I believe that we can proceed like so.” To watch the video with the comments of Yiannis Maniatis, clickHERE.
Olof Mellberg: “It was a very important victory. We are playing in two competitions, the Champions League and the Superleague and we need those victories. Panathinaikos won yesterday and thus it was even more important for us to beat Panionios. Of course, we must be concentrated on our own team and our own performances but if Panathinaikos win all of their games then we must also beat all of our opponents in order to hold on to the lead in the standings. This is the way we want to keep playing in the domestic league. The more games we play, the better we will be.”
Vicente Monje: “I am very happy that my team won three more points and, of course, that I was given the chance to play in this game myself. We must always know how to pressure and impose our style of play because it is what we do best.” To watch the video with the comments of Vicente Monje clickHERE.
Rafik Djebbour: “This was the best moment of my career in Greece. Despite our fatigue, we have been improving game by game.”
Ariel Ibagaza: “We played well against a very good team. We netted the goals we wanted and achieved the victory. We were good in our offense. Our serenity and strong will as a team were the two most important factors. I feel good and the most important thing is that my teammates feel the same way and it is something that can be noted on the pitch. The upcoming games are many but we have enough good players who can help. I believe that this is going to be a successful season. It is always nice to be cheered for, especially when it comes from the opponent team’s supporters.”
