“It was certainly a disadvantage for us this being our first official game, contrary to Marseille, who has already played many more this season. However, lets not focus on this. We were less good in the first half of the game, but much better in the second half. In fact, I would say that both teams were equal and we could reach a draw.
Lets not forget that Marseille is a very good team, in a very good physical condition. It is true that we did not generate many good opportunities during the game, as we tend to do in the Greek Championship, because the Champions League is something completely different for us.
Marseille had a good scoring opportunity, as well as a corner, before eventually scoring against us. There is no doubt that when you create such opportunities, you take risks, but let me repeat once again that (the Champions League) is different to the Greek Championship.
The truth is that Marseille as a team is in a very good physical condition and stamina. Us, towards the end, had no more strength to continue , and more specifically, for the last 20 minutes of the game, Miralas was not in a position to run back and tackle.
We have already stated that our clear goal for this season is to win the Greek Championship. The UEFA Champions League is something extra for us, a competition in which we want to perform well. Because of tonight’s result, we are now going to London for the win, although we know how difficult this is. One thing is for sure, we are in a group, in which we have to face three very good teams.
This is what we are trying to achieve: increase our team’s pace and stamina. There are still players, whom we are trying to incorporate in our team, like Fejsa, Yeste, Abdoun, who played rather well tonight”.
