This humanitarian initiative taken by the President of Olympiacos FC, Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis, demonstrates his social solidarity towards people in need, especially in these difficult times that our country is facing.
In a brief statement, Tasos Mitropoulos said that the President, Mr Vaggelis Marinakis, as well as Olympiacos FC, as a social agent in the community, are very sensitive to actions taken by the parish, and are meant to help groups of fellow-citizens in need.
On behalf of the parish, Father Dimitrios, who received the amount of €10,000 as a token of support to the work of the church, emphasised that the humanitarian efforts of Mr Vaggelis Marinakis, in the past and in the present, help to relieve our fellow citizens in need. He also stressed the fact that Olympiacos supporters exhibit a remarkable degree of loyalty to their club and it is very important for the parishioners to have this great club by their side, while he wished Olympiacos to continue its success in
It is worth mentioning that Father Dimitrios was the priest who blessed Olympiacos prior to the start of the recently concluded football season.
Finally, it should be noted that the €10,000 contribution to the “Genesios Theotokos” parish was collected because this year Olympiacos FC decided to hold a simplified celebration feast to celebrate the winning of the 2010-2011 title, in order to save money and help our fellow citizens in need.
